LEXINGTON, KY (April 29, 2019) – The Morning Pointe Foundation and the Morning Pointe personal care and Alzheimer’s memory care communities of Lexington and Richmond are proud to announce that Gilda Garcia-Juarez has been selected as the Bluegrass Community and Technical College 2019 Morning Pointe Foundation scholar. The faculty of BCTC nominated Garcia-Juarez for this prestigious scholarship due to her high grades, skill, and dedication as she pursues a career in geriatric nursing.
Morning Pointe anticipates the growing need for qualified caregivers as a large segment of the population continues to age. Through scholarship support, Morning Pointe partners with colleges and universities in an effort to graduate excellent healthcare professionals. Garcia-Juarez joins the ranks of nursing students throughout Tennessee and Kentucky who receive the Morning Pointe Foundation scholarship each year.
“It is a privilege to be able to reward the hard work and dedication of promising nursing students,” said Audra Hopkins, the executive director of the Morning Pointe Foundation. “Through our scholarship, the Morning Pointe Foundation aspires to provide hope and encouragement to future geriatric nurses so that they will be able to provide that same hope and encouragement while serving our seniors.”
“There is nothing that can replace the medical knowledge, attention to detail, and compassionate manner of a skilled caregiver,” said Greg A. Vital, the president and co-founder of Morning Pointe Senior Living. “As a large portion of our population continues to age, skilled caregivers, like our Morning Pointe Foundation scholars, are an incredibly precious resource.”
Two new Morning Pointe Foundation scholarships were announced in 2018: a scholarship for occupational therapy students at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky and a scholarship for nursing students at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The first scholars from these schools will be announced next year. The Morning Pointe Foundation also plans to support new scholarships in both Knoxville and Tullahoma, Tennessee in 2019.
The Morning Pointe Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living and was founded in 2014 by senior healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and J. Franklin Farrow. The 501(c)3 non-profit organization provides nursing scholarship opportunities, forms community partnerships, and supports caregivers in its mission to advance the care of seniors.
